What would you say to your 20 year old self?
#1 Posted : Tuesday, June 29, 2010 5:16:54 PM

I saw this in an article on NPR (http://www.npr.org), really liked the concept, and thought it would be great to put this out to the Lifetree Café family:

What would you say to your 20 year old self?

  •  Slow down? Speed up?  Don't marry the person you're dating?  Don't invest your life savings in Pets.com?  Keep doing what you're doing, but do it more?  There could be a million things...

(In the case that you are 20 years old, or too close to 20 to feel comfortable speaking to your 20 year old self, answer, "What would you say to your 14 year old self prior to starting High School.")

Post your answers below and thanks for sharing!

Never, ever leave college. Stay there until you've majored in everything possible, and then apply for a couple masters programs. Because it really will be that awesome.

Thanks for sharing Erica!

I realized I hadn't put my message to my 20 year old self in here... I would tell my 20 year old self:

When speeding down the PCH in a couple of years, make the choice not to encourage everyone in your car to yell, "DONUTS" at the top of your collective lungs while speeding past a California Highway Patrol car who had pulled someone over.  Especially when you don't have any with you.

All those things that your parents warned you about...THEY WERE RIGHT!

Take summers to go places.  Leave the country with a study group or go on that overseas mission trip.  When you DO graduate college (just a bit later), join your fiancee' in getting a master's degree while you still remember everything!  Be the best teacher you can be, and love those kids.  God has a great plan for your own family - just be patient.
